Our sectors

Five sectors that make one group

Education, the creative marketplace, the people platform, finance and technology. Each stands on its own feet, and each makes the other four stronger.

A group earns the word only when its parts belong to each other. Konstelar works in five sectors, and the choice of those five is the oldest decision we still defend every day. Two of them meet the market directly, serving learners and clients in 20+ countries. Three of them give the whole group its strength: the people who carry it, the money that moves through it and the engineering that holds it together. Seen one at a time, each sector looks like a fine business. Seen together, they form a single shape: a circle in which each sector leans on the rest, and which grows stronger with every year and every new country.

01The logic

Why these five belong under one name

Each of our sectors answers the same simple question: what would make the others stronger if it existed inside the house? Education needed people who could teach, and capital that could move across borders without friction. A creative marketplace needed engineering that could carry thousands of moments, from a wedding at dawn to a product launch at night. The people platform needed sectors with real work to organise. Finance needed flows worth managing. Technology needed problems worth solving. Each answer pointed to another sector, and over the years the five closed into a circle.

That circle is the reason we speak of one group. A collection of businesses can sit under one roof and share a letterhead and little else. Our five share talent, judgement, systems and a long memory of what has worked. When one of them learns something, the lesson has somewhere to go. When one of them grows into a new country, the others already know the ground a little better than they did the year before.

This is also why we describe Konstelar by its sectors before anything else. A visitor who understands the five, and the way they lean on one another, understands most of what matters about the group. The individual ventures change, grow and sometimes merge over the years. The circle of sectors has proved far more durable, and it is the frame through which we make almost every important decision.

Five sectors, each answering the question of what would make the others stronger.

02The sectors

Five worlds, one direction

Here are the five, in the order a visitor tends to meet them. Each has a page, a character and a manner of speaking all its own. Read them as five doors into the same house.

03Facing out

Two sectors that meet the world

Education and the creative marketplace are where most people first encounter Konstelar, usually through one of the ventures that carry its work. Someone revising for an exam, a professional learning a new language in the evenings, a couple planning the day they will remember for decades: these are the people the outward sectors exist for. They are judged every day by people who owe us nothing, and that judgement keeps them honest.

Both sectors carry the same promise in different clothes. Someone arrives with a need that matters to them, and leaves with a person who can meet it: a teacher, a photographer, a film crew, an event team. The craft differs completely. The feeling of being in good hands is the same, and it is the feeling we protect above every other metric.

These two sectors also generate the energy the rest of the group runs on. Their growth funds the deeper capabilities, and their daily contact with the market tells the inner sectors what to build next.

We are careful to let each outward sector keep its own face. A learner meets a learning venture fluent in their language and attentive to their goal. A client meets a creative venture that understands the weight of the day they are planning. The group stands behind each of them as builder and long-term owner, and intends to hold them for decades.

04Facing in

Three sectors that make the whole stronger

Facing outFacing in

The people platform, finance and technology began as capabilities the group needed for itself. Over time each grew into a sector of its own, with its own leaders, its own standards and, in some cases, its own ventures facing outward. They are the muscle beneath the skin.

A large group lives or dies by three things: whether its people feel part of something coherent, whether its money moves cleanly, and whether its systems hold when demand arrives all at once. We chose to own all three. Owning them means every venture we start inherits a foundation that took years to build, and starts its life far further along than a newcomer could.

These inner sectors are also where much of our future lies. A capability proven across many ventures and many countries is, in time, a capability other organisations will want. Some of that future is already arriving.

Three inner sectors carry the two that face the world, and every venture stands on all three.

05In common

What the five hold in common

Beneath the differences in craft, the five sectors are the same kind of business. Each is a relationship measured in years. A learner stays with a teacher through several seasons of study. A couple photographed on their wedding day return when the first child arrives. A colleague who joined the group in one country may still be with it a decade later, in another. Money handled well earns the right to be handled again, and a platform that has carried a hard week is trusted with the next. In all five, time is the true measure of the work.

Each of the five also rests on the same foundation: the trust a person places in a company. A learner hands over the evenings of a whole term. A client hands over the one day that cannot be repeated. A colleague counts on payday. A venture entrusts its treasury. An engineer ships work that every venture will lean on before breakfast. Trust of that kind is given slowly and withdrawn quickly, which is why, in all five, the people are the asset that counts.

The same character shows wherever you meet the group, and it crosses borders with the group. It is there in a classroom when a lesson runs long because the idea has almost landed, at a wedding when the crew stays for the last dance, on payday, in a treasury that handles a venture's money with the care a person gives their own savings, and in an engineering studio where work is judged by the people who will depend on it. Five settings, one character, recognisable in a new country from the first week.

06Connection

How each sector lends strength to the others

Ask any one sector what it receives from the other four and the answer is long. Education draws on the people platform for the teams that serve learners, on finance for steady operations across countries, and on technology for everything a learner touches. The creative marketplace leans on the same three, and adds a sense of craft and image that the rest of the group borrows freely.

The flow runs the other way too. The outward sectors bring the inner ones real problems at real scale, which is the only honest way to grow a capability. A people platform tested by one office learns little. A people platform tested by a group spread across 20+ countries learns something new every week.

These exchanges continue year after year and venture after venture, and they compound. Each year the five sectors are more useful to one another than they were the year before, and that usefulness is the asset we value most.

07Commitment

Each sector is a commitment for decades

A sector is entered to stay. When Konstelar commits to a field, the horizon runs to decades, and the first years are spent building what only makes sense if you intend to be there in the last. People are hired for the long run and trained for years, sometimes before the work they are being prepared for exists. Leaders are given time to learn a market slowly, and ventures are given time to find their footing before anyone asks them to lead. A season is far too short a unit for any of this.

Commitment of this kind asks two things of a group. It asks patience in the slow years, when a market pauses, a country takes longer to open than planned, or a venture needs another season to mature. And it asks investment before return, in people, in capability and in the goodwill that only time can earn. Both are heavy, and both are the price of anything that lasts. Konstelar was built to carry them, and the oldest of our sectors has been repaying that patience since 2013.

So each of the five is a promise, and the group intends to keep every one. The learner who begins a course this year can expect the venture teaching them to be there at the end of it, and for years after. The crew who build their craft inside the creative marketplace can expect the marketplace to grow with them. The colleague, the venture whose money we hold and the engineer whose platform carries all of this can expect the same. Five promises, each one made for decades, and each one we would make again.

Every sector was entered to stay, and each of the five is a promise the group intends to keep.

08Balance

Five voices at the same table

Education is our largest sector by people served and by reach. It would be easy to let it speak for the whole group, and we choose against that every time. A group that tells only its biggest story slowly becomes a single business with a few side projects, and loses the very advantage the five sectors give it.

So each sector speaks in its own voice and keeps a seat of its own. The creative marketplace is judged on its own terms, as are the people platform, finance and technology. Their leaders shape group decisions as equals, and their ambitions are taken as seriously as the ambitions of the largest. Size earns attention. It never earns the right to drown out the others.

This balance is also a form of resilience. Markets move, and a sector that leads in one season may rest in the next. A group with five strong pillars can lean on whichever is strongest at the moment, and keep building on all of them.

Visitors sometimes assume the largest sector must also be the most important. Inside Konstelar, importance is measured by what a sector makes possible for the others, and on that measure all five stand level.

09Direction

How we choose where to build next

Every new venture begins with a principle we have held since 2013: we build where the group already has an unfair head start. That head start might be people who know the work, a capability another sector has already proven, or a market where one of our ventures is already trusted. When the head start is real, we move. When it is missing, we wait until it appears.

A second principle follows from the first. A new venture should make the existing sectors stronger on the day it arrives. If it borrows from the group and gives nothing back, it belongs to someone else. If it sharpens what the others do, it belongs with us.

The third is about time. We prefer fields where the reward for staying grows with each year, where trust accumulates and craft deepens. Fashions come and go around us. We would sooner be early to something lasting than first to something brief.

None of these principles is new, and that is part of their strength. They were written in the group's earliest days, tested in many markets since, and they still decide where the next venture takes root. A principle that survives that long has earned the right to keep deciding.

10Judgement

The questions a new field must answer

When a new field catches our attention, we ask it a handful of questions in plain language. Does it serve people whose lives improve in a way they can feel? Can we picture it twenty years from now, still serving them well? Would our existing sectors be glad to have it beside them? Do we have people who understand it from the inside? Could it grow across many countries, or does it only make sense in one place?

A field that answers well may become a venture inside an existing sector. A field that answers exceptionally well, and touches the others in a new way, may one day become a sector of its own. That has happened before, and the circle of five is the result.

We keep these questions simple on purpose. Complicated criteria invite clever arguments. Simple ones invite honest answers, and honest answers have served the group better than any spreadsheet.

The questions also protect the five sectors we already have. Each new field competes for the same talent, attention and patience that our existing work deserves. Asking hard questions early keeps the group focused, and keeps every sector confident that a newcomer will add to its strength.

11Structure

Sectors hold the ventures

Konstelar runs 50+ brands and ventures, and every one of them lives inside a sector. The sector gives the venture its circle of peers, its shared capabilities and its sense of direction. The venture gives the sector its reach, its customers and its fresh ideas. Neither would be as strong alone.

This arrangement lets each venture stay focused on the people it serves. A learning venture can think entirely about learners. A creative venture can think entirely about clients and crews. The heavier questions of people, money and engineering are carried by sectors built for exactly that weight.

It also lets us open and refine ventures with confidence. A new venture arrives into a sector that already knows its market, already has a bench of experienced people and already holds the tools it will need. Its founders begin with a head start that would take an independent company years to earn.

12Reach

Five sectors carried across borders

Our work reaches 20+ countries, and each sector has found its own way of travelling. Education moves wherever learners need a good teacher, which turns out to be everywhere. The creative marketplace moves wherever important days are celebrated and remembered. The inner sectors follow, and each new country soon feels familiar to the teams who arrive there.

Crossing a border is where the value of five sectors shows most clearly. A single business entering a new country starts from nothing: new hires, new banking, new systems. A sector of Konstelar entering a new country brings the rest of the group in its luggage. The people platform is practised at welcoming teams, finance at moving money, technology at carrying the load.

That is why our reach has grown faster than any one sector could have managed on its own. Each new country smooths the way into the next, and each sector arrives there carrying the experience of all five.

13Horizon

A circle that can widen

Today Konstelar works across 5 sectors, and we hold that count lightly. The circle closed around five because five was what the work required. If a sixth field one day proves that it belongs, strengthening the others and drawing strength from them, the circle will widen to make room.

We say this carefully, because restraint matters as much as ambition. Adding a sector is one of the heaviest decisions a group can make. It reshapes where talent goes, where attention goes and where capital goes. Our preference is to deepen the five we have for many years, and to welcome a sixth only once it has clearly earned its seat.

For now the five have more room to grow than we have years to fill it. Each sector holds ambitions larger than its present size, and the next decade belongs to making those ambitions real, one country and one venture at a time.

14Next

Where to go from here

Start anywhere

This page has tried to explain why the five sectors belong together. Each sector page goes further into its own world: who it serves, what it values and how far it already reaches. Start with whichever calls to you, and let the others follow in their own time. Each one makes more sense once you have seen the others.

If you are thinking of joining us, the sectors are the best way to see where your craft might fit. If you are considering working with us, they show the breadth you would be stepping into. And if you are simply curious, they offer five different windows onto one group that has been growing since 2013, and intends to keep growing for a long time yet.

15Questions

Questions about our sectors

Why does Konstelar work in five sectors?

Because each of the five makes the others stronger. Education and the creative marketplace serve learners and clients directly. The people platform, finance and technology give the whole group its strength from within. Each of the five would be weaker on its own.

Is Konstelar mainly an education company?

Education is our largest sector, and we are proud of it. Konstelar is a group of five sectors, though, and each one carries real weight in our thinking and our decisions. The creative marketplace, the people platform, finance and technology are full sectors with their own leaders and ambitions.

Which sectors serve customers directly?

Education serves learners at every stage of life, and the creative marketplace serves clients who want their days photographed, filmed and staged well. The people platform, finance and technology mainly strengthen the group from within, and some of their ventures are beginning to serve organisations beyond it.

How do the sectors work together?

They share people, capabilities and lessons. The outward sectors bring real problems at real scale, and the inner sectors turn them into lasting strength that every venture inherits. The effect is a whole that grows stronger each year.

How does Konstelar decide where to build next?

We build where the group already holds a real head start, where a new venture will strengthen the existing sectors from its first day, and where the reward for staying grows with time. Those three principles have guided our choices since 2013.

Will Konstelar add more sectors?

Perhaps, one day. A new field would need to strengthen the existing five and draw strength from them before it earned a place. Until then we are focused on deepening the sectors we have, each of which still has a great deal of room to grow.

Where can I learn more about a single sector?

Each of the five has its own page, reached from the cards near the top of this one. Those pages describe each sector's world, its people and its reach. Our approach and impact pages tell the rest of the story about how the group holds its work and what it has achieved.

Five sectors. One direction. A long road ahead.

Konstelar grows by making each of its sectors stronger for the others. Explore the five, and see how one group can reach so far.
